A
pilot project at Tufts University, The New Entry Sustainable Farming
Project, plans to open up a training center around Andover to train
immigrants—including Cambodians, Nigerians, Liberians, Asians and
Latinos—to be the next generation of farmers. Once farmers graduate
from the 18-week winter program, they are invited to use the project’s
leased and to practice their skills over the next two to three years,
until they are ready to go out on their own.
