Project Description:

National Hmong American Farmers' most notable work to date has been in the area of agriculture. NHAF provides a culturally sensitive mechanism to help Fresno County's Hmong as well as small and minority growers, hone their technical and business skills and ultimately, to increase their income generation potential. NHAF offers coordinated technical assistance to 500 individuals a year in areas such as marketing, business workshops, tax preparations, farm laws, labor laws and regulations, labor management, and managing diseases and nematodes, weeks, and insects. It operates under the guidance of an advisory committee comprised of many government agencies, business leaders, and farming experts Mission: National Hmong American Farmers (NHAF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote economic well-being among Hmong-Americans, small and minority farmers in Fresno County, California as a One-stop resource training center for small farmers in the Central Valley.

NHAF is committed to making a profound difference for the farming community. Its goals include: Preserving the culture of the farmers, Hmong or otherwise; Providing viable economic development that sustains the community; Creating social and economic development programs to create self-sufficiency; Providing health education, leadership training, and participation in events and issues which affect the daily lives of the Hmong and other ethnic minority farming groups; and Becoming a recognized provider of effective community change.
